ONE Pass family pass planning can use current dependant rules, but the new Investment Management Track still needs final eligibility and application details.
ONE Pass family pass planning can begin before the Investment Management Track publishes its final application details. The family can identify which relatives may use a Dependant’s Pass or Long-Term Visit Pass, prepare relationship documents, plan the four-week family-pass processing period and decide when travel, school and housing commitments should become firm.
The new track does not yet provide a separate published family-pass rule. Use the current ONE Pass family pages, then recheck them when MOM and MAS release the Investment Management Track criteria and application process.
Separate the announced track from current rules
MAS announced on 19 August 2026 that it and MOM intend to introduce an Investment Management Track for global leaders and senior investment professionals who can contribute significantly to Singapore’s asset management industry. It may refine salary assessment to recognise established performance-linked compensation.
A new MOM parliamentary answer dated 8 September 2026 says sector agencies assess candidates under endorsement frameworks and that MOM works closely with MAS on the Investment Management track. It does not publish a start date, application form or family-pass variation.
Do not present a manager as eligible because the person has a fund title or variable compensation. Keep the candidate case and the family plan conditional until the current track guidance confirms who may apply and what evidence is required.
Map the family members by relationship
Create one line for the spouse, each unmarried child, parents and any other person expected to relocate. Record relationship, age, nationality, current immigration status, intended arrival and the current MOM family-pass route that appears relevant.
A Dependant’s Pass and Long-Term Visit Pass cover different relationships. Use the dedicated ONE Pass family eligibility pages when preparing the file. Do not rely on the eligibility list for an Employment Pass holder because the ONE Pass has its own family pages and applicant roles.
Where a child will turn 21 during the move, or a relationship document is complex, obtain advice early. The pass route should follow the facts at application and issuance, not the family’s preferred label.
Prepare civil-status documents
Collect passports, marriage certificates, birth certificates and adoption or custody documents that support each relationship. Check document validity, names, dates and whether an English translation is required.
Resolve spelling differences and name changes before submission. If the main applicant’s passport uses a different sequence from a marriage or birth record, prepare the lawful linking document rather than adding an informal explanation only after MOM asks.
Keep the original documents available for issuance or registration requirements. Store scans in a secure folder with access limited to the family and authorised adviser. Do not send identity documents through an unverified email request.
Decide when to apply for family passes
MOM’s current ONE Pass FAQ says family-pass applications can be submitted with the main application. MOM recommends applying after the main pass is approved because Dependant’s Pass and Long-Term Visit Pass applications take about four weeks and fees are not refunded if the main application is rejected.
Compare the family’s timing needs with that financial risk. An early school or lease deadline may justify preparing every document in parallel, but preparation does not require submission before the main result.
Set a decision date after the main pass outcome. Leave enough time for additional information, travel, issuance and any fingerprint or photo appointment. Do not bring a dependant to Singapore on the assumption that a pending pass will be approved.
Plan the Long-Term Visit Pass sequence
The ONE Pass Long-Term Visit Pass application page says the main pass holder, employer or appointed employment agent can apply. Most cases are processed within four weeks, but some take longer.
Record who will submit, pay and answer MOM queries. Keep the application receipt, in-principle approval, entry date, issuance documents, registration requirement and card delivery contact. A family tracker should distinguish approval from issuance and card delivery.
MOM says the family’s pass duration is tied to the validity of the main ONE Pass, which can be up to five years. A later renewal still depends on the applicable criteria and main pass result. Do not promise a five-year family stay before approval.
Check work plans for the spouse
A family pass gives residence status under its terms. It does not by itself settle every work or business arrangement. A spouse who intends to work or operate a business should review the current Letter of Consent or other work authorisation route and its conditions.
Record the employer or business, proposed role, ownership, start date and authorisation needed. Keep employment plans conditional until the appropriate approval is issued. Do not combine a family-pass application and a business plan into one unsupported promise.
The investment manager should also check employer conflicts, regulated activities and personal dealing policies. Immigration permission and financial-sector compliance are separate questions.
Use a family decision calendar
| Timing point | Family action | Commitment to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Before track details | Map relationships and collect documents | Claiming main-pass eligibility |
| Main application | Decide whether to hold family submissions | Non-refundable parallel fees without review |
| Main pass approved | Submit complete family-pass applications | Travel before dependant approval |
| Family pass approved | Plan entry, issuance and registration | Missing IPA validity dates |
| After issuance | Confirm school, housing and work steps | Starting work without authorisation |
Keep school and housing plans reversible
Shortlist schools and neighbourhoods while applications are pending, but identify which fees and deposits are refundable. Check the school’s admission calendar, the child’s current academic term and any health or vaccination records required.
For housing, use temporary accommodation or a conditional start where practical. Verify the landlord, property and tenancy terms before signing. A long lease should not be tied to a launch date that depends on unpublished track criteria.
Coordinate health insurance, banking and household setup after the likely arrival window is clearer. Each provider has its own eligibility and documentation, so a family pass should not be assumed to complete every local onboarding step.
Refresh the plan when MOM publishes details
Monitor MOM and MAS, not only industry commentary. When the Investment Management Track opens, compare its eligibility, endorsement, compensation evidence and application sequence with the family’s calendar.
If the main application route or timing changes, revise the dependant submission decision and all conditional commitments. Preserve the earlier plan as a dated record rather than silently changing assumptions after fees have been paid.
The moving to Singapore with children guide is the pillar cornerstone. The Investment Management Track readiness note covers the main applicant, while the spouse Letter of Consent guide covers work and business questions. The Immigration and Relocation hub connects the library.
A family can prepare thoroughly without predicting the main application. The strongest plan keeps identity records ready, dates realistic and major commitments conditional until the relevant passes are approved.
