Dependant’s Pass medical examination and issuance in Singapore

A Dependant’s Pass medical examination may be required by the IPA. Plan the visit, issuance documents, card registration and delivery dates.

A Dependant’s Pass medical examination is required only when the in-principle approval letter or issuance instructions say so. Read the IPA before booking tests, bring the correct identity document and leave enough time for the clinic’s results before the family’s Short-Term Visit Pass or IPA window becomes tight.

Medical completion is only one part of issuance. The employer, employment agent or main pass holder must also provide the arrival, contact, residential and card-delivery details requested by MOM.

Read the IPA as the working instruction

MOM’s current page on how to apply for and issue a Dependant’s Pass says dependants of Employment Pass holders generally have six months from IPA to enter Singapore and get the pass issued. Dependants of S Pass holders generally have two months. Other routes can have different instructions.

For this reason, record the IPA issue date, expiry date, sponsor type, arrival plan and person responsible for issuance. Check whether the letter calls for a completed medical examination form or a medical declaration. Do not use a migrant-worker medical form unless MOM’s instructions for that dependant require it.

If the passport is renewed after approval, check whether the details must be updated before issuance. Names and passport numbers should agree across the IPA, arrival record and medical document.

Book the medical visit around the result date

Ask the clinic whether it handles the medical requirement shown in the IPA, what documents to bring, which tests are required by that instruction and how long results usually take. The official issuance page does not prescribe one universal medical package for every dependant, so avoid relying on a generic clinic bundle.

In practice, Bring the original passport and the MOM form or instruction. Check the spelling, passport number and date of birth before leaving the clinic. If the doctor amends a form, ask the clinic to authenticate the correction. Keep a clear PDF for upload and the original where required.

Health information is sensitive. Limit the working tracker to completion status, clinic, appointment date, expected result date and document owner. Do not circulate diagnoses or test details to staff who do not need them for issuance.

Prepare the issuance data before arrival

MOM requires the dependant to be in Singapore when the pass is issued. Prepare the passport details, Singapore contact information, current Short-Term Visit Pass or other immigration-pass details, residential address, card-delivery address and details for up to three authorised recipients.

At the same time, the upload set may include the passport page showing the arrival date, completed medical examination or declaration, and the declaration attached to the IPA. Use filenames that identify the dependant and document without exposing more personal data than needed.

The earlier MOM document list covers the civil-status evidence used for the application. Do not upload the whole application file again unless the issuance service asks for it. Keep the approved application and issuance pack linked in the private family record.

Watch the Short-Term Visit Pass

Do not assume that an approved DP automatically extends the dependant’s stay. Compare the STVP expiry with the medical-result date and the planned issuance date as soon as the person arrives.

As a result, MOM says an STVP extension can be requested when more time is needed because medical results are pending. The request must be made 7 to 14 days before the STVP expires and supported by a doctor’s memo stating the results collection date. This is a narrow timing route, not a reason to delay the appointment.

Keep a calendar reminder at 21 days before expiry. That gives the family time to check the status and obtain a clinic memo before the submission window opens.

Issue the pass and save the notification letter

For dependants of EP and S Pass holders, the employer or appointed employment agent uses EP eService. The service requires the information and documents, followed by the issuance fee and any applicable multiple-journey-visa fee. Check the current amounts on the MOM page on the day of issuance.

For example, Once issuance succeeds, MOM emails a notification letter to the foreigner and the applicant. Save it promptly. It permits travel while the person waits for the physical card, states whether fingerprints and a photograph must be registered and is generally valid for one month.

Review the name, FIN, pass validity and registration instruction. Report an error through the proper channel rather than allowing the card process to continue with a known mismatch.

Complete registration on the stated timeline

Dependant route If registration is required Place stated by MOM
Dependant of EP holder Within two weeks after issuance Employment Pass Services Centre
Dependant of S Pass holder Within one week after issuance MOM Services Centre, Hall C

Book the appointment and bring the original passport, appointment letter, notification letter and the mobile phone required for the digital-pass setup. MOM’s instructions say the phone should have a local mobile number and the relevant Singpass and SGWorkPass apps.

In addition, if registration is not required, follow the notification letter and set up the digital pass as directed. Do not book an unnecessary appointment based on another family member’s experience.

Plan card delivery and authorised receipt

MOM says the card is normally delivered within five working days after registration or document verification. The authorised recipient receives delivery details at least one working day before delivery and must present the accepted identity document.

Confirm that the address will be attended and that the named recipient is available. After two failed delivery attempts, collection moves to the relevant MOM centre. Record the card receipt date and check the printed details against the digital pass.

For this reason, For dependants under the ONE Pass route, MOM’s current key-facts page follows the same broad sequence of issuance, possible registration and card delivery, but the family should use the instructions for its exact sponsor type.

Keep a simple family tracker

For each dependant, track IPA expiry, arrival date, STVP expiry, medical requirement, appointment, result date, issuance owner, notification-letter expiry, registration deadline and card status. Store the underlying documents securely and do not put passport or medical details in a shared calendar title.

The moving-with-children guide remains the pillar cornerstone. The DP documents and arrival guide covers the application pack, while the Dependant’s Pass work guide covers employment options. The Singapore Immigration and Relocation hub connects related guidance.

In practice, the useful milestone is not the medical appointment. It is a correctly issued pass, a usable digital record and a delivered card, all completed within the dates shown in the family’s own MOM documents.
