MOM Long-Term Visit Pass documents for work-pass families

MOM Long-Term Visit Pass documents differ for a common-law spouse, stepchild, disabled adult child and parent. Prepare each relationship record.

MOM Long-Term Visit Pass documents depend on the family relationship. A common-law spouse, stepchild, unmarried adult child with a disability and parent each need different supporting evidence. The sponsoring Employment Pass or S Pass holder must also meet the applicable salary and employment conditions before the employer or employment agent applies.

Prepare one file for each family member. Reusing a generic dependant checklist can miss the relationship proof that distinguishes a Long-Term Visit Pass application from a Dependant’s Pass.

Confirm the sponsor and family member are eligible

MOM’s current eligibility page says an Employment Pass or S Pass holder must earn a fixed monthly salary of at least S$6,000 and be sponsored by an established Singapore-registered company. The salary is based on the sponsor’s pay, not combined household income.

For this reason, the eligible family categories include a common-law spouse, unmarried stepchild under 21 and unmarried child aged 21 or above with a disability. A parent can qualify where the sponsor earns at least S$12,000 in fixed monthly salary.

Check the sponsor’s current pass, employer, salary and family relationship before gathering documents. If an employment change or pass renewal is pending, align the timing with the employer rather than assuming the family application will remain unaffected.

Use the passport and civil-status details consistently

The MOM document page requires the personal-particulars page of the applicant’s passport. Confirm the full name, date of birth, sex, nationality and passport number against every relationship document and application field.

In practice, if names differ because of marriage, transliteration, naming order or another lawful reason, prepare the linking document and a short explanation. Do not edit a scan to make names appear consistent.

Documents not in English must be submitted with the original and an English translation. MOM accepts a translation by a translation service provider, embassy or notary public. Preserve the complete original, translation and translator details together.

Prepare common-law spouse evidence

For a common-law spouse, MOM lists three possible forms of evidence: a copy of the common-law marriage certificate, a notarised affidavit by the sponsor and spouse confirming the relationship under their home country’s laws, or an embassy letter confirming the relationship.

At the same time, Choose the evidence that reflects the legal and factual position. The affidavit should identify both people consistently and be notarised through the proper route. An informal statement, shared address or wedding photograph does not replace the listed relationship evidence.

Check whether the home jurisdiction recognises the relationship described. Where the facts or legal status are uncertain, obtain suitable legal advice before making a declaration.

Prepare the stepchild file

For an unmarried stepchild under 21, MOM requires a copy of the court order on custody and a letter from the other biological parent stating that there is no objection to the child coming to Singapore. The order and letter serve different purposes, so include both where the page requires them.

As a result, Read the custody order for travel, residence and decision-making restrictions. Confirm that the non-objection letter identifies the child, other parent, sponsor’s family and intended move. Keep contact details and identity evidence for the signatory in the secure case file.

A foreign-born child aged 12 or below applying for a new Long-Term Visit Pass may also need vaccination verification. Start that separate health-record process early and use the current verification reference in the application.

Document an adult child’s disability

For an unmarried child aged 21 or above with a disability, MOM asks for a letter or report from a medical practitioner on the child’s condition. The report should identify the patient, practitioner, date and relevant condition clearly enough to support the application.

For example, do not submit a broad medical archive. Use the records needed for the stated requirement, provide an English translation where necessary and store the material with restricted access. Confirm that the passport and medical report refer to the same person.

Family member Relationship evidence Additional check
Common-law spouse Certificate, notarised affidavit or embassy letter Names and home-country legal position
Stepchild under 21 Custody order and other parent’s non-objection Vaccination verification if applicable
Adult disabled child Medical practitioner’s letter or report Unmarried status and secure handling
Parent Sponsor’s birth certificate S$12,000 sponsor salary threshold

Connect a parent’s application to the sponsor

For a parent, MOM asks for the sponsor’s birth certificate showing the parents’ names. Match the parent’s name to the passport and explain legitimate differences with supporting records. Remember that the higher S$12,000 fixed monthly salary threshold applies.

If both parents apply, prepare a separate application and document set for each person. Do not assume one uploaded birth certificate completes both files unless the application system clearly accepts it in each case.

Plan the employer submission and timing

In addition, MOM’s application page says the employer or appointed employment agent submits the application for the dependant of an Employment Pass or S Pass holder. A separate application is required for each family member.

Agree who reviews the documents, enters the fields and answers follow-up questions. Give the employer only the information necessary for the authorised filing through a secure channel. Record the submission reference and monitor the outcome.

A pending application does not extend an expiring visit pass. Check the applicant’s lawful stay independently and plan travel or extension questions through the proper immigration route. An in-principle approval also has its own validity period and issuance steps.

Review the complete file before submission

For this reason, compare passport, relationship document, translation, sponsor record and application fields line by line. Confirm that scans are complete and readable, signatures and notarisations are present, and no document belongs to another family member.

The moving-with-children guide remains the pillar cornerstone. The family-pass overview explains the pass categories, while the vaccination-verification guide covers the child health record. The Singapore Immigration and Relocation hub lists related guidance.

A good family file is relationship-specific. It gives the employer one verified set for one applicant, protects sensitive records and makes every name, status and supporting fact traceable to MOM’s current document list.
