A Singapore work pass address update is generally due within five days, using EP eService for EP or S Pass and OFWAS for most Work Permits.
MOM generally requires a Singapore work pass address update within five days after the holder’s residential address changes. Pass holders or employers update Employment Pass and S Pass details through EP eService. Employers update most non-domestic Work Permit addresses through the Online Foreign Worker Address Service.
Complete the housing check before filing, use the actual move date and keep the acknowledgement. Updating a landlord, bank or employer record does not automatically update MOM.
Identify the pass before choosing the service
MOM’s contact-details guide directs employers to OFWAS for most Work Permit holders and to EP eService for Employment Pass or S Pass holders. Other passes and foreign domestic workers may use different routes.
Check the pass type, FIN, employer and current address in the relevant system. Do not assume that the process used for one family member applies to another. The main pass holder’s account may hold a dependant’s address, or the dependant may need a separate update.
Name who will file. MOM allows either the EP holder or employer to update an EP address. For a Work Permit holder employed by a business, the employer normally updates OFWAS. The internal relocation list should state the owner and completion date.
| Record | Owner to confirm | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|---|
| EP or S Pass address | Pass holder or employer | EP eService acknowledgement |
| Work Permit address | Employer | OFWAS confirmation |
| Housing approval | Tenant, owner and employer as relevant | Lease and approved occupancy record |
| Employer HR file | Employee and HR | Effective move date and contact update |
| Family passes | Main holder and employer | Each linked pass checked |
| Other services | Individual | Separate bank, tax and licence confirmations |
Count five days from the actual change
MOM’s Employment Pass update page says either the holder or employer must update a changed residential address or mobile number within five days. The EP eService update is immediate. Print or save the acknowledgement and keep it with the pass card.
Use the date when the holder begins residing at the new address, not the lease-signing date or key-collection date if those differ. Record the date before the move becomes busy. If the person uses temporary accommodation, check which address is the real residence and update again when it changes.
Do not wait for pass renewal. Renewal may be months away and does not replace the five-day update. A company policy that gathers address changes only through an annual declaration is too slow for this requirement.
Confirm that the address is acceptable for housing
MOM instructs users to ensure the new address meets the relevant housing requirements before updating it. Check the postal code, block, floor, unit and property type against the lease and official records. Confirm that the owner has completed any required occupier registration.
For Work Permit accommodation, the employer should check occupancy limits and the housing rules that apply to the worker and premises. MOM can still reject an address in a signed tenancy document when the property lacks approval for that use or the occupancy information is wrong.
If the eService rejects the address as unapproved, missing or over occupancy, do not enter a different address simply to complete the transaction. Use MOM’s relevant address-registration support route and keep the documents showing the actual approved residence.
Update Work Permit records through OFWAS
The Work Permit update guide requires an employer to update a worker’s residential address or mobile number within five days. The employer should first ensure the housing is suitable, then use OFWAS.
Ask the worker to confirm the complete address and move date in writing. Compare it with the tenancy or accommodation record. After submission, save the confirmation in the worker’s file and update the employer’s accommodation register or monitoring system.
If several workers move together, check each FIN individually. A bulk housing arrangement does not prove that the employer updated every worker’s record. Reconcile the OFWAS result to the occupancy list and investigate omissions.
Check linked family records
When an EP or S Pass family moves, list the main pass holder, spouse, children and any Long-Term Visit Pass holders. Confirm how each address is recorded. The employer’s action for the employee may not complete every family member’s separate requirement.
Keep copies of acknowledgements in a family relocation folder, but protect FINs and addresses. Share them only with people who need them for the update. Avoid sending identity and tenancy documents through broad email groups.
Suppose an EP holder moves with a spouse and two children on 20 September. The employer updates the employee through EP eService on 22 September. The family should also check each linked pass record and retain the confirmations. Telling payroll about the new address on 20 September does not by itself complete the MOM updates.
Separate residential, work and company addresses
A residential address identifies where the pass holder lives. A work location identifies where employment is carried out. The employer’s registered office and business address belong to the entity. A relocation can affect one, two or all of them, but each has its own update route.
MOM’s EP guidance uses a separate process for a change in work location after approval. If a remote-work or secondment arrangement changes both residence and work location, record and update each fact correctly. Do not put the company address into the residential field unless the premises are genuinely approved and used as the person’s residence.
Finish the wider move checklist
After MOM, consider ICA records where relevant, employer HR and payroll, IRAS contact details, banks, insurers, schools, healthcare providers, driving records and contracts. These separate updates improve delivery and identity checks, but none should be assumed to substitute for MOM.
Test access to the new mailbox and keep the old address forwarding active where practical. A pass holder can meet the filing deadline and still miss important correspondence if mail handling fails.
Run a monthly HR reconciliation
Compare employee self-declarations, HR addresses and the acknowledgement files for recent movers. Follow up where a move date exists but no MOM confirmation is stored. For Work Permit housing, compare the worker list with the approved accommodation and occupancy records.
The moving-with-children guide is the pillar cornerstone. The Employment Pass renewal guide covers the wider employer record, and the family-pass comparison helps identify linked passes. The Singapore Immigration and Relocation hub connects the practical move.
A five-day deadline is easy to meet when the move list has one named filer, the correct eService and a saved acknowledgement. It is easy to miss when everyone assumes someone else updated the record.
