Control the YA 2026 corporate tax handoff between preparer, director, tax agent and authorised myTax Portal approver.
YA 2026 corporate tax filing can fail at the last handoff even when the computation is complete. The preparer may assemble figures and schedules, but an authorised Approver for Corporate Tax must review and file through myTax Portal. Directors remain responsible for the company’s return.
Set the deadline and return type
The IRAS Corporate Income Tax Filing Season 2026 page states that companies must file their YA 2026 return by 30 November 2026. Record the company’s financial year end, estimated chargeable income history and the return type it expects to use.
Confirm whether the company meets the current conditions for Form C-S, Form C-S Lite or must file Form C. Do not select a simplified return only because the form is shorter. Keep the analysis with the tax file and revisit it when group relationships, revenue, concessions or other facts change.
Name each role
Create a responsibility sheet for bookkeeping, accounts finalisation, tax adjustments, schedules, director review, portal preparation, portal approval and response to IRAS. Identify the employee or tax agent performing each task. State who can change a figure and who must be informed when a late adjustment occurs.
IRAS says an employee or tax agent filing for a company must have the Approver role for Corporate Tax services. A person who prepares information without that authority cannot complete the final filing. Check Corppass and client authorisation early rather than discovering the gap on 30 November.
Build a return index
Index the signed financial statements, detailed profit and loss, fixed-asset register, tax computation, capital-allowance schedule, loss and donation schedules, related-party records, incentive documents and prior-year correspondence. Add the return field or schedule supported by each item. Keep working papers separate from final signed records.
Reconcile accounting profit to chargeable income line by line. Mark permanent differences, timing differences, non-deductible expenses, exempt income and claims. Each material adjustment should have a source and reviewer. A clean index lets the approver inspect evidence without searching across email, accounting software and an adviser’s portal.
Use a preparer declaration
The preparer should record the return type, key elections, judgement areas, unresolved information, changes from the prior year and figures entered in the draft. Attach a comparison between the tax computation and portal fields. State whether the draft has been saved but not filed.
Avoid sending screenshots as the only review record. Provide the underlying schedules and a concise exception list. The IRAS filing guidance explains the returns and supporting documents. Use the current instructions for the company’s form.
Give directors a meaningful review
Directors should receive the tax result, major adjustments, reliefs, uncertainties, related-party matters, incentive conditions and payment effect in understandable language. Highlight what management confirmed and what came from the adviser. Approval should not be a request to trust a figure because the deadline is near.
Record the director’s questions and the answers. Update the computation and portal draft where needed, then circulate the final version. A board or director approval process should fit the company’s governance, but it must occur before filing. The adviser’s involvement does not transfer statutory responsibility away from the company.
Control portal access
Verify the company’s Corppass Administrator, preparer and approver permissions in advance. For tax agents, confirm the client authorisation and correct client account. The IRAS digital-services guidance explains company and tax-agent access, including client authorisation.
Do not share Singpass, Corppass or myTax Portal credentials. Use each person’s authorised access. Keep sensitive identity and authentication evidence out of the tax working-paper folder unless required and properly protected. If a role is missing, fix the authority through the supported process rather than using another person’s account.
Run the filing-session checklist
On the filing day, confirm the entity, year of assessment, return type, final computation, approved figures and attachments. The preparer can enter or check the data, while the authorised approver performs the final review and submission. Stop if the portal display differs from the approved return.
Preserve the acknowledgement and submitted-return readback. If the portal becomes quiet or times out, inspect the current filing status before submitting again. A duplicate attempt can create confusion even if the tax result is unchanged. Record the official submission time and reference in the index.
Reconcile after filing
Compare the submitted return, acknowledgement, subsequent assessment and payment schedule. Assign responses to any IRAS query and preserve the final correspondence. If the company discovers an error, assess the supported amendment route promptly rather than editing the original working paper without an audit trail.
Update the next-year file with recurring adjustments, elections, losses, capital allowances and access changes. The handoff is complete only when the company can reproduce what was filed and why. The Singapore transfer-pricing workflow covers the separate related-party evidence process.
A reliable YA 2026 filing is not merely a completed computation. It is a controlled chain from source records to director review, authorised portal approval and official readback, with each person’s responsibility visible before the deadline.
Keep a final change log
Freeze a review version and record every change made after director approval. State the field, old amount, new amount, reason, supporting record and person who approved the revision. Minor rounding and major tax adjustments should not disappear into a replacement spreadsheet. The approver needs to know which version matches the portal.
After filing, mark the tax computation, portal copy and acknowledgement as final and store them together. Restrict later editing while allowing a separate amendment working paper. This simple version control protects the company when a future reviewer asks whether an amount was approved before submission or changed afterwards.
