Corppass access review before corporate tax filing

A Corppass access review confirms the correct entity, tax service, Preparer, Approver and tax-agent authority before filing.

A Corppass access review should be completed before the corporate tax return is ready for submission. It confirms the correct entity, digital service, user, role, tax agent and approval route while there is still time to fix access.

The review is not a password check. It is an authority record that leaves the company in control of who may prepare, view and submit its YA 2026 return.

Confirm the filing entity

Start with the company’s legal name and UEN. Groups should review each entity separately. A tax agent’s client list, accounting file name or shared folder is not enough to identify the taxpayer.

Record the financial year end, form route, filing deadline and whether a waiver or dormant status is relevant. The IRAS YA 2026 filing-season page states that companies must file by 30 November 2026 unless a filing waiver applies.

Directors remain responsible for timely and accurate filing even when a tax agent is engaged. Put the director or authorised management approver in the review record.

Select the correct digital service

Use the current IRAS Corppass service table to confirm the service needed. Corporate Tax (Filing and Applications) is distinct from Corporate Tax (Payment) and from unrelated GST, withholding-tax or employment-income services.

Assign only what the user needs. Access to file a return should not automatically include payment or every IRAS service.

Record the exact service name and effective date. Screenshots can help with review, but do not capture personal authentication information or security codes.

Distinguish Preparer and Approver

IRAS requires an authorised Approver for the Corporate Tax (Filing and Applications) service to submit the return. A Preparer may support preparation but should not be treated as the person who made the final company decision.

Name the intended Preparer and Approver and confirm that both remain employed or properly appointed. Check planned leave, notice periods and backup coverage before the deadline.

Where one person performs both functions, record the compensating review by a director or senior officer. System access and substantive tax approval are related but different controls.

Review tax-agent authority

The IRAS companies and tax-agents page explains that Corppass is the authorisation system for employees and third parties who transact for an entity. Authorising a tax agent can allow that party to access information and perform transactions within the assigned service.

Confirm the tax-agent entity, engagement scope, authorised staff route, start date and intended end date. Avoid broad access left from an earlier adviser or prior filing year.

Match Corppass authority with the engagement letter and company approval. If the tax agent may submit, say so expressly. If management must approve before submission, retain that instruction and the final approval evidence.

Test access without opening the wrong client

Perform a controlled login test early. Confirm that the user can see the correct entity and corporate-tax service. Stop before changing or submitting data unless the test plan authorises a draft action.

IRAS warns tax agents not to open several clients’ filing windows at the same time. Complete one client’s work before moving to another to reduce the risk of cross-client errors.

Record the test date and result, not the user’s password, Singpass details or session data. Authentication evidence belongs in the secure service, not the tax file.

Check the handoff from computation to portal

Link the authorised user to the final tax computation, return version and supporting schedules. The person entering figures should know which locked version is approved.

Use a control total for revenue, adjusted profit or loss, deductions and chargeable income. Compare the portal draft with the approved computation before submission.

If the portal pre-fills information, reconcile it instead of assuming it is correct. Record a difference and who resolved it.

Include a failed-access fallback. Record the official support route, the Corppass administrator and the person authorised to decide whether a deadline extension request is needed. Do not share another user’s account to overcome a late access problem.

Run the review early enough to handle a departed administrator, an outdated mobile number or a third party that no longer appears under the entity. Keep the problem record factual and use only the official recovery process.

Keep authority separate from tax judgement

Corppass permits a digital action, but it does not prove that the return is correct. The approved tax computation, management representations and director review remain the substantive record.

Conversely, a signed tax computation does not let an unauthorised person submit through myTax Portal. The company needs both a valid tax decision and valid digital authority.

Use a Corppass access review table

Check Evidence Owner
Entity Legal name and UEN Company secretary
Service Corporate Tax service assignment Corppass administrator
Preparer Current user and role Finance lead
Approver Submission authority Director
Tax agent Engagement and access dates Company owner
Removal Post-filing review date Corppass administrator

Plan removal and retention before filing

Set a post-filing access review date. Remove departed staff, expired engagements and services no longer needed while preserving the filed return, acknowledgement and working papers.

Do not remove access needed to respond to an active IRAS review without assigning a replacement. Record the continuing purpose and the next review date.

Keep a company-owned list of current users and third parties. The tax agent’s internal list is not a substitute for the taxpayer’s own authority record.

The YA 2026 tax-agent filing authority guide covers final submission control. The Singapore transfer-pricing workflow is the tax pillar cornerstone.

A timely Corppass access review prevents a correct return from being delayed or submitted through the wrong authority. The Tax Consulting hub connects the wider corporate-tax library.
